Description

While SharePoint 2007 is a very "power to the people" kind of tool, there are many instances where you don't want individuals to go in and start creating Site Columns, Content Types and such manually (can you say fat-fingering?). The recommended way for accomplishing these things is through the usage of SharePoint's Features and Solutions Framework, where it allows the system to create these infrastructure assets (based on some XML) instead of manually doing so. This track will have an overview of Features and Solutions, discuss the reasons why one uses them, and will then walk through the creation of specific Features and Solutions that create custom Site Columns, Content Types, Document Libraries and Lists within a Site.
